The purpose of this event lies on two incredible gifts of life: food and story-telling. In Portugal, and all around the world, food is the best way to express love and friendship. Having said this, one of the main goals of this activity was to promote cultural heritage and differences through sharing traditional dishes from several different countries. Being close to the beginning of the semester, another goal was for international students to meet each other and to make friends that will be side-by-side with them throughout the entire semester.
Before the event, participants registered themselves as teams of 4 people (to follow the safety guidelines imposed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic). They were asked to bring a typical dish from their country of origin, as well as stories and curiosities about their home country and culture.
On the evening of the event, each group was present in a different location (once again, because of COVID-19). As participants arrived, the food was displayed, and each person would talk about the traditional dish they brought, as well as about the culture and traditions of their home country. Afterwards, every participant had the opportunity to try every dish.
