The aim of this campaign was, objectively, to collect household items, food and other useful goods that could be useful to the homeless and refugees living in precarious conditions; but also to promote the reuse and decrease the amount of “unuseful things” that people leave behind after a long period of living somewhere, and giving it not only to other people, but to the ones who need it the most.
Erasmus Giving Back consisted of a fundraising campaign that allowed international students to donate anything they had acquired during their mobility programme and could not bring back home with them. Items such as heaters, blankets, clothes and even food (particularly long-term shelf life food items) could be donated. Students would sign up on an online form, describing what they wished to donate and choosing the best time for our volunteers to pick up their donations. After this, the donations were collected and stored by our volunteers, and after separated into “categories” (e.g. warm coats and clothes; shoes; household items; school supplies; canned food; open packets of long lasting foods (spices, pasta, rice), etc) in order to better respond to each institution’s needs.
