The purpose of this Focus Group is to gather knowledge which volunteers of ESN Slovakia
have about the topic of mobilities and Europeans rights. We are aware they might have a
bit better overview that an average peer, however we were curious if they are aware of all
the possibilities, rights and struggles, even. Main focus was aimed at the discussion about
struggles which students have when going abroad or are considering going abroad.
● This Focus Group was divided into 2 . The first one had 12 participants and the other had 8 participants. It was organized on the premises of University of Matej Bel in Banska Bystrica during our annual National Assembly. Since not all of our sections are as active as we would like, we took this opportunity to introduce everyone present at this meeting what EGiA is and directly pulled them in while offering them help
if they would want to have their own focus group. The format differed. Some parts were held as an open discussion, brainstorming with post-its, some parts were dialogues.
● Key questions: motivation to go abroad, a perfect destination and what does it mean, different mobility opportunities, rights and freedoms of European citizens, barriers in participating in a mobility and how to support mobilities, impacts of learning mobility and how they benefit the student and others, role of International opportunities and promotion of the upcoming European Parliament elections.
● During the whole time I was following the attached .ppt presentation created based on recommended guidelines in the template presentation which was available to the participants throughout the whole time.
● Since the EGiA was planned as a part of National Assembly and our volunteers were rather fast, we accomplished the whole Focus Group in rather short time, however I do believe that people who are not as aware as our volunteers would take more time – note to consider for our future EGiA Focus Groups
