The goal of the activity was to clean the banks of the river "Pescara".
On Saturday 5th March we spent a beautiful morning together cleaning a piece of land and doing something great from the environment. The meeting point was at 9:20 A M at the bus station, we were 4 people from ESN and 10 ERASMUS. WE took the bus and we arrived at the kennel in Spoltore. At 10 we had the meeting point with the association Plastic Free and other volunteers from the “Lega nazionale difesa del cane”. Plastic Free is an association born in 2017 which now counts more than 250000 volunteers , they have the goal to clean and give back a new life to all this kinds of territories which are currently full of rubbish .
After a briefing where they explained the history of the association and which was our target for the morning they gave us cloves and a rubbish bag for starting to clean the territory.. At the beginning honestly we didn’t expect a lot of rubbish but after we realized that there was an incredible amount of plastic and rubbish , so we had a lot of stuff to do .
We started to collect the plastic in the opposite bags but after we found an incredible amount of all kind of rubbish so we had to separate them . We found all kinds of waste possible like chemical waste, construction waste, plastic paper and even a lot of syringes. We were really happy while we were doing this experience because we were spending our Sunday morning for the environment because ESN is not just helping Erasmus but also getting involved in social activities. At the same we were reflecting how was possible to face a such amount of rubbish in the nature, so we realized that there still are lot of people who don't care at all about the environment, but fortunately we have this kinds of associations that are doing an amazing job.
We were also really pleased because all the Erasmus had such a great time and they did a really good job helping everybody there non stop during the two hours. At the end we took a picture all together and we went back to Pescara hoping that we could have a day like this as soon as possible.
