Goal of the Activity
  • The main aim was to try and understand how disabled people live their daily lives and the difficulties they face in simple activities such as eating.
  • International students were able to experience the challenges of a visually impaired person eating properly and know how to help in this and other situations if needed.
  • To raise awareness of disability and how to include more disabled people in regular activities.
Description

The international students had the opportunity to experience eating as a visually impaired person and to rely on their other senses. We used scarves as blindfolds and guided them through the whole process. We also invited a visually impaired person, a trainer from another non-profit organisation (SONS Ostrava), to tell us about the life of a visually and hearing impaired person. In the end, we also experienced how the visually impaired person sees thanks to the special glasses, each of which represents a particular eye disability.
