Goal of the Activity
- The main goal was to be able to try and understand how disabled people live their everyday lives and what struggles they encounter while doing simple activities such as eating.
- International students could experience the challenges of a visually impaired person to eat properly and know how to help in this situation and other situations if needed.
- Spreading awareness about disabilities and how to include more people with disabilities into regular activities.
Description
The international students had the opportunity to experience eating food as a visually impaired person and rely on their other senses. We used scarfs as blindfolds and guided them through the entire process. The whole event was in a spirit of how they feel after that experience and how they can help or include people with disabilities. We also invited a visually impaired person, an instructor from the organization for visually impaired, SONS Ostrava, who held a lecture on the topic of visual impairment.
