To spend some time in the green discovering new areas in Siena that are under rearrangement
In the occasion of the Green Month of May 2021, an environmental campaign organized twice a year by ESN Italy, we collaborated with the local section of Legambiente, the major Italian environmental association, for a day to spend in some green areas of Siena that are under rearrangement. In particular, Legambiente show us around the area, that is actually organized by them and divided into a forest area and a rural area. The forest is undergoing some changes, with areas where new plants will be added through the actions of local schools and by the municipality of Siena. An artificial lake and middle ages founts contribute to give water to the cultivations. Legambiente also explain us the project that are undergoing for ameliorating the areas and to enhance the green mobility and actions of the city. Moreover, they show us the rural part, where vegetable gardens have been prepared and where they have already started planting aromatic plants and other small cultivations. The activity has given us the possibility to reflect upon the importance of rethinking our cities and habits, for a greener and more sustainable life, and try to give our contribution for creating greener cities and environment.
