Goal of the Activity

The goal of the activity was to watch the famous Italian movie "Nuovo Cinema Paradiso" and ask questions about the film afterwards.

Description

We booked a room at Centro Giovani Esprit. When we had the precise number of participants, we also bought snacks and drinks for everyone. We decided to pick the movie "Three Men and a Leg" (original title: Tre uomini e una gamba), a 1997 Italian comedy film directed by and starring the comedic trio Aldo, Giovanni, and Giacomo. The story follows the three men as they embark on a road trip from Milan to southern Italy for a wedding, carrying a peculiar cargo: a valuable wooden leg sculpture that belongs to their tyrannical father-in-law. Along the way, they face a series of comedic mishaps and existential reflections, ultimately challenging their perceptions of happiness, love, and freedom.

The film is considered a classic of Italian cinema for its blend of slapstick humor, heartfelt storytelling, and relatable characters. It captures the cultural and generational nuances of 1990s Italy while showcasing the unique chemistry and comedic timing of Aldo, Giovanni, and Giacomo. Its success lies in its ability to mix humor with poignant moments, creating a timeless and universally appealing narrative.  It is a classic of Italian Cinema that is a big part of our culture as well.  The movie was shown in Italian with English subtitles to also help participants learn new words and enrich their vocabulary. When we finished the movie, we used Kahoot afterward to ask some questions about the story and gave prizes to those who answered the most questions.
