Goal of the Activity

The goal of Career Day during MentorCamp was to enhance the employability of Erasmus+ participants and volunteers by equipping them with practical skills, knowledge, and insights related to career development and mobility opportunities. Through interactive workshops, informative presentations, and mock interviews, participants gained confidence in CV writing, learn about non-study mobility opportunities, develop soft skills, and receive valuable feedback to improve their interview performance. The activity aimed to empower participants to leverage their mobility experiences for career advancement, while promoting sustainability, inclusivity, and knowledge-sharing within the ESN community.

Description

Career Day, a pivotal component of MentorCamp 2024 Spring was meticulously designed to empower participants with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to navigate the professional landscape with confidence and competence. As an integral part of the broader MentorCamp experience, Career Day aligns closely with the objectives of the Erasmus Careers project, focusing on enhancing the employability of Erasmus+ participants and volunteers by recognising and utilising the competencies gained during mobility experiences and volunteering in ESN.

The workshops curated for Career Day are tailored to address key facets of career development and employability within the context of ESN and Erasmus mobility. From CV writing to mock interviews, each session is designed to equip participants with practical skills and insights that directly translate into the job market.

Workshops included:

1. CV Writing Workshop: This session aims to provide participants with the tools and strategies needed to craft effective CVs that showcase their mobility experiences and highlight their relevant skills and competencies to potential employers. Through guidance on structuring and formatting CVs, participants learned to articulate the value of their mobility experiences in a compelling and professional manner.

2. Erasmus Opportunities Workshop: Here, participants gained insight into non-study mobility opportunities such as internships, traineeships, and volunteering. The session aimed to raise awareness about the various Erasmus+ programmes available, highlighting the benefits of non-study mobility, and encouraged participants to explore relevant opportunities for personal and professional development.

3. Skills Implementation Workshop: This workshop focused on helping participants apply the skills gained during mobility experiences to real-world contexts. By identifying transferable skills and offering strategies for integration into academic and professional settings, participants learned to leverage their mobility experiences for career advancement and personal growth.

4. Soft Skills Workshop: Recognising the value of soft skills developed through ESN involvement, this session aimed to highlight the relevance of these skills to employers and empower participants to actively engage in ESN activities. Through interactive exercises and discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding of the soft skills they have acquired and learn how to effectively communicate their value to potential employers.

5. Mock Interview Workshop: Providing practical experience and feedback for job interviews, this session offered participants the opportunity to simulate interview scenarios in a supportive environment. By participating in mock interviews and receiving constructive feedback from facilitators and peers, participants refined their interview skills and built confidence in their ability to communicate effectively and professionally.

Career Day unfolded as a dynamic and interactive event, featuring a combination of workshops, presentations, and panel discussions facilitated by experienced ESNers and Eduk8ers. Participants had the opportunity to engage with the material through group discussions, hands-on activities, and practical exercises, ensuring active participation and learning.
