participants
The proposed activity promotes mobility, its benefits in the area of career development and employability opportunities and provides the participants with knowledge on how to present their Erasmus+ mobility and/or volunteering experience on their CV. The goal is for the participants to get a grasp at what their Erasmus+ and/or Volunteering experiences might teach them, in terms of skills that are later going to be appreciated by potential recruiters.
During the Local Phase training participants:
- Got to know what ESN is, its impact to society and how to participate
- Learned about different Erasmus+/mobility opportunities that can help them develop their competences
- Understood how they can use volunteering and Erasmus+/mobility experiences as a tool in the labour market and in their CV
The activity took place as part of the National Training Event (NTE) of ESN Greece (happening once per year), organised by the 3 sections of Crete: ESN TUC, ESN HMU & ESN UOC hosting it in the Department of Electronic Engineering of the Hellenic Mediterranean University in Chania, Greece.
The agenda was the following:
- Opening & Greetings
- What is ESN (small game)
- Presentation of the Erasmus Career Platform & the Grant
- Mobility opportunities
- How to use volunteering and Erasmus+/mobility on your CV and workplace
- Questions
- Closing
The specific event was open to the local community and students, as an outreach attempt, so they got to know the work of the Erasmus Student Network in a city that is mostly excluded from large events related to mobility, Erasmus+ and the EU. The city of Chania, however, has a lot to offer, given its large student population and three educational institutions being based or having faculties in it: TUC, HMU and the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAI Chania). In that way, the impact that our Local Section, ESN Greece and volunteering organisations in general have on the student communities of the country can be greatly felt and appreciated.
We are expecting this event to have a lasting impact on the volunteering future of the ESN Greece members as well, as NTE is designed as an event mostly for newer members, giving them opportunities to grow and learn new skills inside ESN that can also be applied outside of it, in their Local Communities or CV and future Careers.
Lastly, the event is going to greatly impact our Local Section and Region as well, inspiring newer members to search more about the topics discussed and continue organising events at such a scale. It’s vital for us to get to show our newer members the vast scope of the possibilities that can be provided in and through our Network, so that they can continue to seize opportunities that come their way.
