Goal of the Activity

Our “Blood Donation in Cologne” event shows that you can even save three lives during your Erasmus stay and promote your own health at the same time.

Description

In keeping with Social Impact Week, we have decided to give Erasmus students in Cologne the opportunity to donate blood together. To this end, we got in touch with various coordinators and the city-center team of the Red Cross (unfortunately, we were turned down when we tried to cooperate with the university hospital). With their help, we were able to ensure that blood donation was also possible for non-German-speaking donors. We informed the Erasmus students in advance about the general criteria and the English-language questionnaire so that they would be as well prepared as possible when they visited the Red Cross team. Those interested were able to register online in advance so that there were no long waiting times. Anyone who wanted to could connect with other Erasmus students before, during or after the donation, eat something together from the buffet or chat. This was the first time we held an event like this, but we would love to repeat it in the future. Because it is not only fun for the Erasmus students, but also helps the community enormously.
