The idea stems from one of our members, who carried out the "note-taking" service working part-time with the University of Macerata, realising how the difficulties of blind people are often ignored by society, even unintentionally. The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness among Erasmus about visual impairment, making them participate in everyday activities from a different perspective so as to make them aware of the difficulties related to this type of disability and provide them with the tools to intervene if necessary. The event took place during the Social Impact Days.
The event was divided into two parts. The first part consisted of the telling of the story of Nicholas, the visually impaired boy, followed by questions about how he found himself in certain situations, especially to understand his relationship with institutions, the school and university environment.
For the second part, we carried out small assignments, which included daily tasks. The participants were divided into pairs: one of them was blindfolded while the other led his partner. Among the proposed activities was
were asked to make coffee, set the table and choose clothes for a party in order to overcome the obstacle of visual deprivation by using touch.
