The activity aimed to raise awareness for blind people, especially blind students, to understand their obstacles, and to foster a dialogue between them and our students in which they could ask any question in a safe space while also just socialising together as the students they are and not the disabilities or they have.
We meet in the Luhu Cafe, which is a Cafe run by deaf people. Then, while enjoying some warm drinks, the volunteering blind students gave a presentation about what it means to be blind and about their perspectives on everything. Afterwards, we paired the students up, equipped them with blindfolds and white sticks and went on a walk together. This way, they could discover what it is like to be blind. Back in the Luhu coffee, the blindfolds stayed on, and we had some snacks together, whereby the students had to guess what they were eating.
