Objective / Goal of the activity

Active Inclusion is a sports activity with the goal of bringing together able-bodied students and disabled people of all ages, by playing adaptive sports together.

Description

The event was hosted by the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra in their own facilities. They had invited several local institutions that provide support to people with physical and mental disabilities, and agreed to have ESN Coimbra and a few international students join the activity within the context of the Social Inclusion Days. The participants were guided by professors and students who explained the rules of the different adaptive sports. After a brief explanation, the participants had the opportunity to play together with disabled people.

Result of the activity

This activity brought two unlikely communities closer together: international students completing their exchange program in Coimbra and disabled people of all ages from Coimbra and its surroundings.
