The main goal of Paint the Eggs was to connect international students with Greek culture through hands-on experience. By participating in this Easter tradition, students not only learned about its origins and meanings, but also had the chance to express themselves artistically, bond with fellow students, and celebrate the festive season in a unique and joyful way.
Paint the Eggs was a creative and culturally rich event that introduced Erasmus students to one of the most beloved Greek Easter traditions: dyeing and decorating red eggs. As part of the Orthodox Easter celebration, red eggs symbolize rebirth and good luck, and the tradition is both festive and meaningful.
During the event, students gathered in a warm and welcoming space to paint their own Easter eggs—some following the traditional deep red style, others getting creative with colors and patterns. Greek volunteers shared the history and symbolism behind the custom, along with stories and fun facts about how Easter is celebrated in Greece. The event often ended with the traditional egg-cracking game (tsougrisma), adding a playful and interactive touch
