- Show international students a bit more of our portuguese culture, history and traditions;
- Promote national visits to other portuguese cities such as Coimbra;
- Promote intercultural dialogue.
We took our international students to know some of the beauties of Coimbra and cultural aspects this city has to offer. One of them was the oldest University of Portugal, founded in 1290. We also took them to a living portrait of Portugal and the Portuguese presence in the world called “Portugal dos Pequenitos”. Another visit was to the Conímbriga Ruins which is a settlement established since the Copper Age that was an important center during the Roman Republic and that remained inhabited until at least the 9th century. It is one of the most extensive and diversified archaeological sites in Portugal.
The overall feedback of the event was really good. The weather was also very good, which helped. The guides we had during the visits were very nice and the international students really enjoyed the historical visits. We prepared some small surprises like some typical sweets at the end of the city tour and the students were very happy for that. Also, we lauched a challenge to them in which they had to take the most creative picture inside "Portugal dos pequenitos" and that made the students very excited.
