Main goal of this activity was to show students how the sign language looks like and teach them some easy signs. Another goal was the meeting of students with people with disabilities and to learn about their history and life.
During sign language workshop our Erasmus+ students and ESNers had opportunity to learn some signs and hear about hearing loss. We got to know the stories of two people - one who was born deaf and one who lost hearing as a result of the accident. Students were very interested and asked a lot of questions. Our guests also were amazed by international students and they wanted to know more about different countries. At the end of workshop we played a game which shows us that life without one sense is not easy at all. Deaf people have shown that despite adversity their lives are wonderful and they are happy. This meeting was very valuable and will be remembered for a long time.
We can see students using some signs during our other events. They want us to organize more meetings with deaf people. Their knowledge of deaf culture is bigger and they know how they can help deaf people.
