Objective / Goal of the activity
To know false myths about people who are deaf and to learn a basic knowledge of sign language.
Description
We were inform about false myths concerning people who are deaf (they aren’t deaf-muted, they don’t have a bad temper, they can drive, how to communicate with them when they cannot see you…). Later we received an initial training workshop in Spanish Sign Language.
Result of the activity
We learnt more about deaf people and we acquired a basic knowledge of sign language (the alphabet, how to introduce ourselves, moods, colours, how to ask basis questions…). In addition we shared the course with a deaf boy who told us his experience and at the end we did a language exchange to practice it.
