To engage students in a meaningful volunteering initiative that supports oncology patients by creating handmade pillows that provide comfort during treatment, while also fostering social responsibility, community involvement, and practical skill-building.
On 29th November, ESN WUM and the Świadomi Życia Foundation held a heart-warming workshop where students sewed and filled 33 pillows for oncology patients. In addition, participants filled another 36 pillows that had been pre-sewn. Altogether, the workshop used 10 kg of stuffing.
Each pillow will be given to women undergoing cancer treatment after mastectomy, providing comfort and support during their recovery.
No previous sewing experience was required, as participants were guided step by step throughout the process. Those who didn't want to sew also contributed by helping to fill the pillows, ensuring everyone could take part in this meaningful initiative.
By joining the workshop, students not only learned a new skill but also contributed to a cause that positively impacted the well-being of others. All proceeds from the event were donated to the Świadomi Życia Foundation to support their charitable work.
The event successfully brought together students and volunteers to create something meaningful, spreading kindness one pillow, one stitch at a time.
