For the participants, our goals are:
- To understand the key competencies employers seek and how to present them effectively in CVs and interviews.
- To develop confidence and communication skills through hands-on mock interviews with expert feedback.
- To align personal competencies gained during studies and potential mobility experiences (such as Erasmus+) with job market expectations.
For ESN Delft, our aim is to:
- Help students realize the value of their mobility experience in terms of career prospects, and how the skills they’ve gained can set them apart in the job market.
- Strengthen our role in supporting students’ professional development by connecting them with industry experts and giving them the tools to succeed.
- Reinforce ESN Delft’s commitment to helping students not only academically and socially but also in their professional journeys.
The event started with a Welcome Coffee, providing coffee, a snack and a relaxed atmosphere for networking until all the attendees have arrived. The main presentation, “Mastering the Interview: A Guide to Success,” was conducted by two experienced IT recruiters from Netcompany Delft and lasted 1 hour and a half. The session covered the key Do’s and Don'ts of successful interviewing, how to effectively prepare for common interview questions, the importance of thorough company research, presenting the right attitude, how to leverage Erasmus mobility experience in an interview, and crafting a strong CV. The recruiters engaged the audience with practical examples, group discussions, and a Q&A segment. Following this, a Mock Interview Session was conducted in which the participants paired in teams of two and practiced common interview questions. One of them had the role of Interviewer and the other of Interviewee and then they switched roles. The session was monitored by Facilitators - trained Volunteers whose role was to observe the interviews, guideline the process and give feedback. The session lasted about an hour. Throughout the event, there were short breaks for refreshments, snacks and networking. The participants connected with the IT Recruiters from Netcompany and asked many questions about the interview process, the CV and internship opportunities at the company.
The training of volunteers was done with collaboration of TU Delft Career Centre and consisted of two sessions. The first was a 2 hour "Prepare & Practice Interview Questions" workshop and it gave insights in job interviews, how to prepare them, how to answer specific questions. The second was 1 hour "Giving feedback during mock interviews" preparation session, discussed how to give effective feedback in mock interviews, and what to focus on. Both workshops conducted by TU Delft careers counsellors.
The promotion was done mainly through an Instagram post. After contacting other student associations and TU Delft official Instagram page, the post was promoted to their pages as well. We had printed two physical posters and posted them to TU Delft Campus.
