Objective / Goal of the activity

The aim is to inform the students about both the challenges and advantages of choosing to study abroad. The students are expected to provide information about their expectation vs reality of studying abroad as well as practical information such as applying for visa or searching for housing.

Description

Being an international student in a foreign country is often a challenge. Do you remember the time you first encountered cultural shock after moving abroad? And what about living on your own for the first time?

The St. Nicolaaslyceum, a secondary school here in Amsterdam, invites international university students to share their study experiences with the students of St. Nicolaaslyceum. The aim is to inform the students about both the challenges and advantages of choosing to study abroad. The students are expected to provide information about their expectation vs reality of studying abroad as well as practical information such as applying for visa or searching for housing. It is a great opportunity for you to share your story as well as inspire others to go international!

We start at 11:45 at the St. Nicolaaslyceum and the activity ends at 14:00. If you want, you can stay longer and help the students with their assignments, but this is not necessary.

Result of the activity

Local high school students will have gotten in touch with international culture and studying abroad. The international students have gotten more insight into the lives of local children.
