Objective / Goal of the activity

As a core event of the Social Inclusion Days, we decided to organise this event and invite people with different backgrounds to share  their experience with the international students and us. Those people were the so-called books. Through this event, we wanted to bring closer our international students to the locals and make some small steps for a more inclusive society.

Description

" A cover is not a book, so open it up and take a look" 📖

If you want to take a look at someone else's book and scroll through the pages of their own story, then this event is what you're looking for!

In our human library the books are human beings and the pages are their everyday lives. Listen to what those who deal with discrimination and social stereotypes have to say from their point of view and ask them questions, even intimate ones, about what walking in their shoes is like.

Result of the activity

It seemed that the participants really liked the event and they seemed eager to ask the speakers-"books" about their lives and about the obstacles they face in their everyday life. We were pleased with the ongoing conversation and we had the opportunity to realise more or less how is the daily life of concrete groups. Unfortunately, we had some last minute cancellations but we manage to adapt accordingly and the event was successful.
