Goal of the Activity

We aim to help participants discover the hidden world of microorganisms through fun and interactive experiments.

Description

The event begins with an engaging presentation led by a Microbiology Master’s student, who introduces participants to the fascinating world that exists beyond what the naked eye can see. Through clear explanations and captivating visuals, students learn how scientists study microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and living cells.

After the presentation, the participants move on to a series of guided experiments designed to make microbiology come alive. With step-by-step instructions, they extract DNA from a banana — a surprisingly simple yet eye-opening experiment that demonstrates how genetic material can be found in everyday life. The excitement continues as students prepare their own bacterial culture samples, giving them the unique opportunity to take home a small “souvenir” plate where they can later observe the growth of bacteria collected from their fingertips.
