This guided tour was planned and organised to show the participants the historical part of Coimbra. The goal was to provide an afternoon of exploration, learning and culture to the international students, especially those who had just arrived in the city.
The activity started in Seminário Maior de Coimbra, where a tour guide showed the participants and volunteers around the building and its grounds. Afterwards, the volunteers introduced the rest of the tour, which consisted in dividing the participants into groups. The participants, who had previously been asked to download a treasure-hunt app with a game made by our volunteers, then walked along the chosen path, from the University of Coimbra to the Botanical Garden. The volunteers walked the path along with them, in order to help if it was necessary, or in case someone got accidentally lost. After the game, everyone gathered in a café to relax and talk.
Although not a lot of participants showed up, the ones that did enjoyed the activity, as it combined both historical facts about the city and fun challenges for them to do while discovering the different areas of the city.
