Combat misinformation surrounding fake news by engaging participants in interactive activities and discussions
The first activity of the workshop involved a team-based game where two teams were presented with two news articles – one real and one fake. The objective was to discern between the two and identify which was genuine. Following this, participants discussed the differences between the two articles and drew conclusions regarding the importance of accurate information and reliable sources in forming opinions.
Next, a second team-based game was conducted, with three teams formed: two representing political parties and one consisting of voters. The parties were tasked with persuading the voters to choose them. This activity aimed to simulate the political decision-making process and highlight the influence of political messaging on voter decisions.
After a brief coffee break, participants engaged in online games where they had to determine if certain images and videos were created using artificial intelligence. This activity provided insight into the capabilities of AI technology and raised awareness about the potential for manipulation of visual content.
Overall, the workshop fostered critical thinking skills, encouraged discussion about the importance of reliable information, and highlighted the impact of technology on modern communication and decision-making processes.
