Objective / Goal of the activity

Goal was to teach participants basic skills of First Aid in case they find themselves in a situation in life where those skills are of good use so they can help those in need.

Description

Volunteers from Red Cross Split (alongside with 3 ESN Split volunteers who used to be a part of the Red Cross organisation) taught Erasmus students First Aid basics:

- how to put an unconscious person in lateral position

- proper execution of CPR

- how to use AED device

- Heimlich maneuver

- imobilising broken extremities

- CPR on a child.

Additionally, Erasmus students had many questions for helping people in various scenarios which we also taught (e. how to pull a person from a car after a car crash).

Result of the activity

17 Erasmus students with 5 ESN volunteers joined this event. Everyone had many questions regarding First Aid (especially for car crash cases). Two Erasmus students asked Intervention Team Coordinator to join our local Red Cross HQ in volunteering opportunities during their Erasmus stay in Split.
