Objective / Goal of the activity

Participate in the World Clean-up Day 2019 (21 September, 2019) and get the students together to do something nice for the environment.

Description

World Cleanup Day is one of the biggest civic movements of our time. It unites 157 countries across the world for a cleaner planet.
In Estonia, this world-changing idea began in 2008. 50,000 people united to clean up the entire country in just five hours. On that day, a global bottom-up civic movement was born and spread like wildfire around the globe. This captured the imaginations of people worldwide, who were inspired to follow suit with the same ambitious ‘one country, one-day’ formula.
Our plan was the same, gather the students, assign them a place and clean it up the best we could.

Result of the activity

Unfortunately and also unsurprisingly (since this is Estonia 😅) the weather turned out to be bad. It was very cloudy and cold with some drizzling rain, Very few people showed up for this outdoor activity. Trash bags and gloves were arranged for the students and they gathered in an area near Tallinn University of Technology’s sports hall. Picked up whatever they could find from the area and then threw it all in big garbage drums. All in all, it wasn’t much fun participating in this activity 😂
