Students had to spend an evening while sipping tea and sitting across a table, talking to each other while being blind folded. This would allow them to judge people based on who they are instead of what they look like.
We gather students in a very nice and cosy wine bar. every student was given a blind fold. The girls were allowed to remain seated while the boys were moved around, switching partners every 5 minutes. After each round the girls were allowed to give "points" to the person they just had a conversation with. No one was allowed to share their names or the country where they are from. At the end the girls were allowed to get together and discuss who could be who based on the points they had written down.
Unfortunately calling the event a "Blind Date" caused a lot of people to get scared and not show up. At the end there were only 4 girls (one of them the main organiser and ESN Tallinn member) and around 15 boys. But having the boys to keep switching partners allowed this little problem to be solved. At the end the girls really enjoyed the event and agreed that some of the things they talked about would not have been possible if there were no blind folds involved. The boys unfortunately were really bored by having to move around so much or wait for their turn to come up. The event should definitely be marketed in a different way.
