ESN Pub Quiz

Are you a smartass international student who is also a connoisseur of pub quizzes*. Do you fancy partaking in a thrilling duel of brilliant minds, a fortifying beverage of spirit true, AND the chance to win some amazing prizes**?

That’s most certainly a yes. For the very last time (because Robert is leaving and the event isn’t nearly as fun to organise without him), ESN Innsbruck's very own grumpy old man and quizmaster (bowtie included) will be wheeled out of retirement (Robert made some pretty wild promises) to host this special event. Be nice to him, have a little patience, and remember to speak clearly: he is over the hill after all 😉

Enough preamble. There will be five rounds in which we (being Robert and Harry) will examine your familiarity with various areas of obscure knowledge and we can really ask you anything. Perhaps we would like to be told in which country Emmanuel Macron is a co-prince (Andorra); which band recorded some of their songs in German, with such hits as “Gib Mir Deine Hand” and “Sie Liebt Dich” into order to appeal to the DACH market (The Beatles); or even who the current (Austrian men’s) Bundesliga champions are (Red Bull Salzburg).

At the end of the evening, Innsbruck's smartest students shall be (with great pomp and ceremony, much fanfare, and of course some wailing and gnashing of teeth from the losers) crowned as the undisputed and official ‘Obscure Knowledge Challenge Champions of ESN's Pub Quiz Spectacular of 2023’!

If you wish to join in (and frankly, who wouldn’t), you must simply register your team of up to five, 5, V, VIISI, FÜNF people (so we can cram in more groups), until 12:00 CET on 25/04/2023***. If you don't have a team, you can try and get in touch with random people (some say that a stranger is a friend that you haven’t met) of your choice and form one.

*If you are not an Erasmus/Exchange student, pleased do not make any shocked Pikachu faces when your team does not win (like somebody did once upon a time).

**Your definition of what an ‘amazing prize’ may vary to that of ESN Innsbruck’s. ESN Innsbruck’s definition, however, is unequivocally above reproach.

***Why so many fives? People apparently don’t read the instructions (including one, particular ESNer who should have, frankly, known better). If your team/table has more than five people (individuals who are “just watching” also count), you will not be able to win.
