Objective / Goal of the activity
The objective of this activity was raising awareness about animal abandonment in Gent. By this way, we want the Erasmus student to be socially engaged.
Description
The animal shelter in Gent guided us around in their kennels and gave us the opportunity to play with the loveliest dogs while learning a bit more about the problem of pet abandonment in Gent. The guided tour took about 30 minutes and was for free. After the tour, students had the opportunity to buy a membership card for €10 which allows them to take the dogs out for a walk every day during opening times.
Result of the activity
Students were very interested in this activity. A quarter of the students attending this activity wanted to go walking a dog as a volunteer on a regular basis.
