Our aim was to do something for sustainability and the environment. We wanted to promote recycling and do something concrete to solve a problem.
In the end of every semester the student houses that are used by international students are filled with usable stuff that goes to trash only because the students cannot take these things back to their home country when they leave. ESN FINT wanted to save this stuff from going to trash and organized a recycling day. We had a van driving a tour around the city to student houses and volunteers picking up donations. We sorted these items and will donate them forward to next incoming students.
The activity went well considering this was the first time we organized such event. There is a lot of people wanting to donate and recycle their items in the end of their stay but it is challenging to find the perfect day for the van tour.
