Inspired by the Youtube channel "Jubilee" and its "Spectrum" format, we organized a virtual round table in which the Erasmus students could discuss, without filters, on various issues of contemporary society and the Erasmus generation. Through the functionality of the surveys on Zoom, we asked several questions, to which the Erasmus could express how much they agreed or disagreed with these statements. This, gave us the possibility to have an overview of their opinion on this topic and subsequently, for each question, a discussion was held where they expressed their ideas, moderated by ESNers. The questions / statements on which they had to express their agreeableness ranged from stereotypes (eg.I reflect on the stereotypes of my country) to the Erasmus + program (eg.I think Erasmus program is inclusive), from the current situation (eg.I think my country handled Covid well) to issues always current and of which young people use to debate on (eg.I am addicted to Social Media - Technology lowers my creative abilities), passing through questions about Europe (eg.I feel European - I would like to be born in a different country).
This event gave the Erasmus students the opportunity to share ideas and thoughts and to understand the importance of listening and being heard; it also brought out cultural and social issues and underlined how diversity means that nothing is either black or white, but that there is a much wider spectrum of nuances.
To the question: "I fell European" -> Answer: Strongly Agree "I am proud to be born in my country, but sometimes it doesn't represent me. I have had the opportunity to travel and to live in different countries and each of them gave me something, shaping the person I currently am. I belong to all these different countries. "
The discussions brought out different points of view and increased everyone's cultural background, since people of different nationalities were present (India, Pakistan, Hungary, Italy, Germany). The activity provided both "hard skills", in the sense that information was learned about the various countries and the various traditions and customs, and "soft skills", because it was an opportunity to increase communication, listening and dialogue .
