Goal of the Activity

The main objective is to let our Erasmus students discover the city in a different way, getting to know Barcelona as a local rather than just a visitor or a random tourist.

They got to know the city, while doing fun activities and spending time with other international erasmus and getting to know each other. At the same time, they discovered Barcelona from a different point of view, while learning essential information for their stay in the city. We believe this also has more impact than just the typical city tour and allow our volunteers to create a stronger bond with our international students.

Description

As part of our Welcome Days, which are organized at the beginning of each semester to accompany international students in their first weeks in the city with several activities taking place in order to guide, support and integrate students in the university and the culture of the host country; we organized a gymkhana around the city of Barcelona that aims to introduce culture and places of interest to our newly arrived international students through a competition of the "treasure hunt" style.

This activity contains two kinds of challenges: transversal and specific. The transversal challenges are carried out throughout the whole activity and their completion awards the team with several points. The specific challenges are linked to each one of the tasks that allow you to advance in the game and go to the next geographical location. Additionally, the groups are given a clue at each one of the task-points about the treasure's final location.

The activity takes place in different emblematic points of the city of Barcelona such as Sagrada Família, Plaça de Glòries, Arc de Triomf, Parc de la Ciutadella and Plaça Tetuan.

The groups had a maximum of 10 people, to adapt to the COVID-19 restrictions established by our national government, and wearing a face mask was compulsory throughout the whole activity.
