The goal was to make a use of good weather and make a sport activity that is fun and make students move in this exams’ period time, but first and foremost, socialise with people and make new connections - we invited our czech friends to this event to make it a special exchange and inclusion in our Czech culture.
We met with students for the volleyball game at bar Majak at 13:00.
We were playing 2 , and then 3 teams when everyone arrived for 4 and 5 ppl squads for 2 hours. Most of the students were intermediate level and few advanced.
After then we moved to the tables area, where we received a gas grill from the bar, and we continued with the relaxed and socialising part of the event that everyone really enjoyed.
We provided utensils, sauces, and different kinds of sausages for everyone, and students brought other things to the table.
Outcomes
Everything. People enjoyed it a lot and stayed longer than expected. The weather especially played a great role, as for the past few days it was raining, and on the day of the event we had sun and it was warm. The best outcome is, that students are going to continue making this event even after, and locals have decided to invite the students to their activities. We find it as a big success in connecting those two worlds of international community with the local.
To highlight, combining volleyball with a grill was a great idea, the capacity of people was just right, more people would not be so close to talk and keep the vibe, mixing up the team during the game was also a good idea.
