The primary goal of the Steps to Santa step challenge was to strengthen community spirit across the 11 ESN sections while promoting physical activity and well-being among participants. Through a friendly competition focused on daily step counts, the event encouraged participants to stay active, engage with one another, and support the others contribute creatively through photos and videos. Additionally, the shared objective of collectively “reaching Santa Claus Village and back” fostered motivation and a sense of shared achievement.
Warm-up for our plan (aka rules & reminders):
It’s a friendly challenge with a bit of competition. Please Respect each other - we still want to stay friends after this 😂 (We have 11 lovely sections! )
Make sure you downloaded StepUp and updated your profile: Name = your name, Surname = your section (or the one you walk for)
🩵 The app doesn’t show team vs. team, so we’ll drop the leaderboard here from time to time (steps per section will be divided by number of participants)
It turned out some phones are lazy… so open the app for example every evening to refresh your steps
We start 24 Nov – and finish 14 Dec
Prizes:
🏆 Section with the highest average steps
📸 Prize for the funniest walking pattern or the most creative picture (send it in the spam Sipsik Step Squad chat!)
🎥 Special prize raffle:
Send a simple or creative video of how you walk (Ps we want to use it for our final video )
Have fun and let's try to reach Santa clause village and come back
The code/link to join challenge will be shared tomorrow
Outcomes
In total, 120 participants competed in a friendly and motivating environment to see which section would achieve the highest average daily steps over a three-week period. Beyond the competition itself, participants actively interacted in a shared chat, where they exchanged experiences, shared emotions and motivated each other throughout the challenge. The high level of engagement was also visible through frequent photo sharing. The most successful outcome of the challenge was its community spirit. During a dark and challenging period for many, the initiative encouraged participants to move more, support one another, and stay connected. The challenge created a positive and inclusive environment where new connections and future collaborations between sections could arise.
