The National Training Event (School Nazionale) aims to empower current and future Local Board Members by strengthening their leadership, governance and team management skills. The activity provides participants with tools to manage their Sections effectively, make informed decisions and align their work with ESN’s Mission and Values. Through non-formal education, peer-to-peer learning, and collaboration with external partners, the event promotes sustainable volunteer engagement, inclusivity and civic responsibility. It also encourages reflection on personal development, the impact of ESN and the wider European context in which we operate. The ultimate goal is to reinforce Section capacities and inspire long-term commitment to the Network.
The event took place in Lecce and brought together over 60 volunteers from all over Italy for a three-day training event focused on capacity building, leadership and team development. Participants were either current Local Board Members or highly active volunteers preparing to take on leadership roles. The agenda was built through a comprehensive needs assessment and structured around three thematic tracks: governance and HR, strategic and operational management, and values, mission and European opportunities.
Sessions were delivered by a diverse content team composed of trainers from the Italian Pool, external experts and one Eduk8 facilitator. The training combined workshops, group reflections, practical tools and inspirational content to help participants grow both as individuals and as part of their Section. The event was hosted at the Accademia delle Belle Arti di Lecce, thanks to the collaboration with the Organising Committee of ESN Lecce. Europe Direct and Transiti also contributed by facilitating sessions on EU opportunities and intercultural understanding. The event was supported and endorsed by INDIRE, the Italian Erasmus+ National Agency.
