With this activity, we want to show what an Erasmus+ traineeship is really about, highlighting the value for both those going abroad and those who chose our city for their training. A key part of the project involves the international trainees currently here in Foggia: their stories will encourage local students, creating a dialogue between those living this experience right now and those who are still undecided. Our goal is to show that these experiences are extremely useful for future careers. Seeing how well foreign students are integrated into our local area is the best motivation to encourage our students to leave for this experience themselves. This brings benefits on many levels: it prepares students for the job market, makes the University of Foggia more international, and brings new life and economic growth to the city. We are sure that this meeting of cultures is the best way to open minds and make our university community more open and eager to create these kinds of connections.
Designed as an interactive non-formal seminar, the event promotes a comprehensive understanding of Erasmus+ Traineeships through dialogue and practical skill-building.
Morning Session (12:00 – 13:00): The seminar opens with institutional and peer perspectives. Accessibility is guaranteed from the start via simultaneous English translation (SSML San Domenico) and sign language interpretation (University). Councillor Alice Amatore will introduce the session, framing Foggia as a territory for professional growth, challenging the narrative of "leaving without returning." The International Relations Office will present specific calls and procedures, while Europe Direct Trani connects these local opportunities to wider EU youth policies. ELSA Bari contributes a professional legal perspective, demonstrating how local experiences translate to European careers. Crucially, storytelling by incoming trainees will showcase the city’s true potential, countering stereotypes. This leads into a moderated Q&A, fostering open peer-to-peer exchange between prospective students, ESNers, and former trainees regarding doubts and motivations.
Afternoon Workshop (after lunch break, until 17:00): Led by ESN trainers and the Chamber of Commerce, this hands-on session focuses on employability. It explores CV evolution, how transversal skills gained abroad enhance professional profiles, and strategies for navigating labour markets.
Networking (17:00 – 18:30): The day concludes with a guided networking session to facilitate interaction between students, trainees, and local actors, creating a shared contact database for future collaboration.
Sustainability & Inclusivity: Beyond language mediation, the event minimizes environmental impact by selecting a venue accessible by public transport, prioritizing digital tools, and ensuring plastic-free, waste-conscious catering.
