The main objectives of this activity were to raise awareness about the environment and teach international students the value of protecting the local ecosystem. We also aimed to give students an opportunity to lessen pollution in the city's main river. Finally, we also wanted to show them a different perspective of Valladolid and enjoy the city seen from the river itself, in order to help them develop a stronger bond with the local environment.
The local environmental organization "A.M.A el Pisuerga" and ESN Valladolid are working together on this project. Due to its significant impact on the environment and local community, the section decided to resume this activity after a one-year break.
The collaboration began as a means of involving foreign students in the preservation of our city's center, the Pisuerga River. Because it provides a distinctive, practical experience that goes beyond traditional tourism and enables students to actively take care of their host city, we chose to keep it.
The international students get together with local people to clean the river from trashes. We also cleaned the area around it, providing a safe space to promote the cleanliness of the natural area.
