The goal of the activity was to introduce participants to Sicilian cultural heritage through a guided cultural experience, fostering intercultural dialogue and experiential learning. By visiting the Antonio Pasqualino International Puppet Museum and attending a traditional Sicilian puppet show, the activity aimed to help international students better understand local traditions, appreciate cultural diversity, and feel more connected to the cultural life of Palermo.
On the 3rd of December 2025, ESN Palermo organized a cultural visit to the Antonio Pasqualino International Puppet Museum in Palermo. The activity started at 4:00 PM with a one-hour visit to the museum, where participants explored a rich collection of puppets and marionettes from all over the world, including not only European traditions but also Asian and other non-European forms of puppetry. At 5:00 PM, the group attended a 40-minute performance of the traditional Sicilian Opera dei Pupi. This historic theatrical tradition tells epic stories of knights, honor, and battles through handcrafted puppets and expressive narration, and it is recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. The activity offered participants a meaningful and engaging insight into one of Sicily’s most iconic cultural traditions.
