In a world which tries to divide us, we wanted to create a place where our cultures and differences unite us into a peaceful and friendly setting, a meeting point which does not allow any prejudice or hate to enter. Beyond “showing” cultures, building a home away from home for every international and Erasmus student was our goal. We tried to transform our campus from a place of study into a vibrant mosaic of human connection, where shared dances or the tastes of traditional dishes could erase borders and turn strangers into a global family.
Our Intercultural Day was designed as a charming journey that engaged all the senses. The place was transformed into a global restaurant where students did not just serve food, but also shared the heritage behind every dish, from the spicy aromas of the Middle East to the traditional pastries of Eastern Europe.
One of the interactive corners of the event was our Italian station; we invited participants to paint pasta and turn simple food into wearable art such as bracelets and necklaces. This activity served as a perfect icebreaker, allowing students to bond over art while discussing their own traditions. On the other hand, participants experienced the beautiful patterns of traditional henna art at the Pakistan station.
The best part was when students played their own national music. This led to an amazing day and a spontaneous dance circle where everyone joined in naturally. Seeing students from different cultures show each other their traditional steps was the best proof that we reached our goal.
