Turkish coffee fortune telling, known as 'kahve falı' , is a popular and playful tradition in Turkey. After enjoying a cup of Turkish coffee, participants turn their cups upside down to let the coffee grounds settle. A friend then interprets the shapes and patterns left behind, offering lighthearted ‘predictions’ or insights. This activity isn’t just about reading fortunes; it’s a unique cultural experience that brings people together, encourages conversation, and adds a bit of mystery and fun.
The evening started with everyone gathering together. After everyone enjoyed their Turkish Coffee, tradition was followed. The cups were flipped, and personal wishes were whispered with hope. We each took our turn, captivated by her insights. To cool the coffee grounds, rings and coins were delicately placed atop the overturned cups. Once the first cup cooled, the real magic began. We approached the fortune teller one by one. She skillfully asked insightful questions and gracefully read the coffee grounds, interpreting them with a sense of mystique. As a special touch, she gifted us with tarot readings, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the experience.
