The objectives of the event were:
- Promotion of natural, cultural and gastronomic heritage.
- Strengthening relations with local institutions.
- Promotion of environmental sustainability.
- Promotion of sport and well-being.
The National Event in the Aeolian Islands was created with the intention of giving Erasmus students an unforgettable farewell experience at the end of their mobility period, while also showcasing the cultural and natural treasures of the archipelago. It represents a true flagship for Southern Italy, capable of attracting the attention of young internationals. A journey that turns into a lasting memory, making their time in Italy truly unique.
This initiative also brings significant value to the territory: by planning future editions, it fosters the promotion of off-season tourism. Alongside the appreciation of cultural, natural, and gastronomic resources, the event highlights Sicilian and Aeolian businesses, allowing international students to enjoy a full immersion in the land that has hosted them for months.
The project targets foreign university students on mobility, members of ESN – Erasmus Student Network, as well as volunteers of the association.
The trip lasted 4 days and 3 nights on the island of Vulcano, the heart of the event’s activities: three themed parties, beachside entertainment and afternoon gatherings, kayaking, snorkeling, trekking up the volcano, and a boat excursion to Lipari. Another full day was dedicated to a mini cruise to Panarea and Stromboli, enriched by a tasting of traditional Sicilian products, right during the breathtaking natural spectacle of the sciara di fuoco.
As specified in the goal of the activities we were determined to preserve the natural heritage of the eolian island in fact during the last day all the partecipants were gathered together for cleaning the beach.
Among all the collaborations, we had the opportunity to collaborate with Safe U volunteers, experts in spreading awareness about the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and promoting psychosexual well-being.
Moreover, another impactful collaboration was with Ecoevents, experts in sustainable event planning, to minimise waste, cut emissions, and engage our community in making a difference.
