The goal of the hiking trip to Urlatoarea Waterfall was to promote physical and mental well-being, foster meaningful social interactions among students, and encourage appreciation for Romania’s natural beauty through a low-impact, sustainable outdoor experience. By exploring one of the country’s iconic mountain trails together, the activity aimed to strengthen connections between local and international students, support healthy lifestyles, and raise awareness about environmental responsibility.
The hiking trip to Urlatoarea Waterfall was a day-long outdoor activity designed to bring together local and international students for a shared experience in nature. The group departed early in the morning from Bucharest, Basarab Train Station and traveled by train to Poiana Tapului, from where the hike began at around 11 AM. The route covered approximately 9 kilometers with a moderate elevation gain of 300 meters, taking about 4-5 hours to complete, due to the snow.
Throughout the hike, participants enjoyed the scenic landscapes of the mountains, connected with fellow students, and took a break from the urban environment. The event encouraged physical activity, mindful time in nature, and sustainable behavior - students were instructed to pack light, dress appropriately for mountain conditions, and take all waste back with them to protect the environment.
The hike was open to all fitness levels and aimed to create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere while promoting well-being, community building, and respect for natural spaces.
