Goal of the Activity

To provide students with a fun day of exploring Eskişehir’s culture and history while building new friendships with the members of ESN ESTU.

Description

The trip started at 7:30 with taking the bus to Eskişehir.

Upon arrival at the Eskisehir bus station, the tram was taken to the breakfast venue.

Once the group disembarked, a short walk was made to a local establishment where Ciborek (a traditional deep-fried pastry) was ordered and enjoyed as breakfast. During this meal, the group was joined by an event coordinator from ESN ESTU and an additional member of the Organizing Committee.

A historic house, built in 1739 and decorated with many traditional artefacts, was visited by the students following breakfast. Afterwards, the group was headed toward the Wax Museum, known as the biggest and oldest in Türkiye, where the history and importance of the sculptures were explained. The important figures of the Turkish television and singers were admired by the students. The journey was then continued to the Eskisehir Modern Museum. Many group photos were taken at the entrance before everyone started exploring, according to their individual interests, such as contemporary art and traditional Turkish arts.

Artefacts from all over the world, including Japan, Italy, and Russia, were observed throughout the galleries.

Following the museum visit, an hour of free time was granted to the students. The shops in the Odunpazarı houses square were visited by some, while others opted for further museum exploration. At the Glass Art Museum, the sculpting process was witnessed during a live workshop, and many international artworks were viewed at the Wood Sculpture Museum. Once the free time was concluded, the Porsuk River was experienced via gondola rides, though the city tour boat was preferred by some students. After the city was seen from the water, the group was led to Bars Street for snacks. During this time, delicious food and drinks were enjoyed while the ESNers from ESTU were better known by the participants.

As the day drew to a close, a walk was taken along the river, and boza was sampled by the students. Photos were taken by the bridge with the ESN Ankara University flag and the mascot, AnGoat. Finally, the group was dropped off at the tram by the ESNers from ESTU, and warm farewells were exchanged. Much respect and many thanks were shown by the students to ESN ESTU for their hospitality. The bus was boarded at 8:30 pm, and Ankara was reached by 11:30 pm.

One last group picture was taken in ASTI before the participants headed to their homes. Throughout the entire trip, a great deal of fun was had by the students, and the Organizing Committee was thanked for such a successful event.
