Goal of the Activity

Raise awareness about different forms of discrimination through the lens of cinema

Description

Between October and December 2025, ESN Brescia organises a free cineforum dedicated to the theme of discrimination, hosted at the cinema Nuovo Eden in Brescia.

The initiative brings together both the international and local community to explore how different forms of discrimination are portrayed in contemporary cinema. Each screening is presented in the film’s original language and opened with a short introduction providing context on the theme addressed. At the end of every film, participants are invited to join an open discussion, creating a space for reflection and intercultural dialogue.

The selection includes:

  • The Zone of Interest – an unsettling look at the normalization of brutality and the mechanisms of dehumanization.

  • All of Us Strangers – an intimate story exploring identity, isolation, and emotional vulnerability.
  • The Seed of the Sacred Fig – a powerful portrayal of oppression, social injustice, and the struggle for freedom.
  • The Forbidden City – a depiction of systemic discrimination and the personal challenges faced by individuals pushed to the margins.

This cineforum offers the community a meaningful opportunity to engage with complex social issues through film, fostering awareness, critical thinking, and shared perspectives across cultures.
